Dignity befitting the office

As a notary, you are held in high regard—your website should reflect that authority. A clean, sophisticated design conveys a sense of competence and reliability to clients from their very first visit.

Complex topics explained in an easy-to-understand way

Notarizations, real estate liens, inheritance agreements—there’s a lot that needs explaining. A well-structured website answers the most common questions up front and significantly reduces the workload on your administrative staff.

Be found locally

Clients are specifically looking for a notary in their area. With local search engine optimization, you’ll appear exactly when someone in your city needs a notarization.

Implementation of the WordPress Web Design

For notaries, having their own website is much more than just a digital business card. Anyone looking to buy real estate, start a business, or draw up an inheritance agreement will first search online for a notary’s office—and often decides, based on the website alone, whom to entrust with such an important matter.

As a web designer and WordPress freelancer, I develop websites for notary offices that convey professionalism while remaining accessible. Notarial services require explanation: Clients come with questions about purchase agreements, mortgage deeds, powers of attorney for healthcare, or wills. A well-designed website addresses these questions, explains procedures in an understandable way, and builds trust before the first contact is made.

A real-world example is the website for Matthias Dols’ notary office and law firm in Berlin. In addition to presenting the services in a visually appealing way, the focus was on clearly explaining the processes involved in notarization and providing the necessary forms and contact options—all implemented using WordPress and Elementor Pro, based on a professional, understated web design.

Added to this are the technical fundamentals that determine visibility today: fast loading times, a clean page structure, GDPR-compliant contact forms, and targeted local search engine optimization—in collaboration with SEO freelancers such as SEO Freundlich, if desired. This ensures that your notary office is found exactly where your clients are searching—in your city and for your areas of expertise.

Do you run a law firm in addition to your notary practice? My web design for attorneys and law firms shows what a compelling unified brand presence can look like.

Responsibilities: Web design in collaboration with an SEO specialist and an SEO copywriter

4 Steps to Creating a Website for Notaries

1. Analysis of the Notary System & Key Areas. During our initial consultation, we’ll identify your areas of notarial practice: real estate purchase agreements, corporate law, estate planning, powers of attorney, prenuptial agreements, or notarized signatures for private individuals. Which client groups most frequently seek your notarization services? We take into account the strict advertising ban under the BNotO and develop content that is appropriately factual.

2. A concept based on notarial objectivity. You will receive an initial web design concept with sample pages on notary services, a notarization service, and scheduling an appointment. Notary websites must be factual and informative—the design supports this with understated typography, clear structures, and the avoidance of marketing clichés. First partial invoice upon approval.

3. Implementation using WordPress & Elementor Pro. Based on the concept, we create service pages covering all areas of notarial services, a team page featuring the appointed notary, directions with a map, FAQs, and—if desired—an online appointment request form. GDPR-compliant forms with secure file upload for confidential documents. Texts compliant with the German Notary Act (BNotO) are reviewed. Training is available upon request.

4. SEO, Security & Launch. Before going live: backup system, hacking protection, page speed optimization, and GDPR. Local SEO for “Notar Berlin” plus the district and area of specialization will be implemented, and old URLs will be redirected. Then we’ll go live. Maintenance, updates on legal changes, or additional notarization services will be billed on an hourly basis.

Yes, within the scope of factual information. Notaries are subject to professional advertising restrictions—an informative presentation of the range of services and the notary’s office is permitted. I take these limitations into account when designing and drafting all content.

I ensure that all essential requirements are met: a complete legal notice in accordance with Section 5 of the German Telemedia Act (TMG), a GDPR-compliant privacy policy, a cookie notice or consent banner if required, the integration of external services (Google Fonts, Maps, Analytics) in compliance with data protection regulations, and secure contact forms. For personalized legal advice, I recommend consulting a specialized attorney—I’ll reliably handle the technical implementation.
