Website Relaunch: A Modern Look with a Focus on Rankings

Is your website starting to show its age? I'll rebuild it to be modern and fast—with careful SEO migration that protects your visibility as much as possible.

The Starting Point

When a Relaunch Is Worth It

Outdated, slow, not mobile-friendly

If the design is outdated, pages load slowly, or the site breaks on smartphones, it costs you trust and customers. A relaunch brings the design, technology, and speed up to date.

Concerns About Google Rankings

The biggest concern with a relaunch: losing visibility. Short-term fluctuations are to be expected because Google re-evaluates the new pages—promising zero loss would be unrealistic. However, with clean 301 redirects and the site structure intact, I’m doing everything I can to keep that risk as low as possible.

Developed over time and confusing

Websites that have evolved over the years become cluttered, technically fragile, and difficult to maintain. A relaunch creates a clear structure that you can build on again.

The Decision

Keep patching it up or relaunch it?

Patching up an outdated website may seem cheaper—but it becomes more expensive and risky with each passing year. A clean relaunch brings the design, technology, and speed up to a level where you can build on that foundation again.

Criterion Patch up the existing website Clean relaunch
Appearance Outdated, inconsistent modern and in line with the brand
Technology A fragile patchwork clean, maintainable foundation
Tempo Slow fast loading times
Visibility Changes Made Without a Plan Can Jeopardize Rankings 301 redirects and monitoring keep the risk low
The Future is becoming increasingly expensive a sustainable foundation

Are you switching systems at the same time? Then moving to WordPress is the right choice—you’ll find details on the migration there.

Scope of Services

What's Included in the Relaunch

After the Launch

What happens after the relaunch

A relaunch doesn’t end with the switch-over. During the first few weeks, Google categorizes the new website – which is why I closely monitor this phase.

The Path

Here's How Your Relaunch Will Work

  1. AnalysisI review our current portfolio, rankings, and goals, and note what will remain and what will be new.
  2. Concept & ProposalStructure, design direction, and scope—with a binding estimated timeframe.
  3. DevelopmentThe new website is being built in WordPress at the same time, without taking the old site offline.
  4. Redirects & Go-LiveEach old URL receives a 301 redirect, followed by a check for broken links and then a controlled switchover.
  5. Monitoring & Follow-Up SupportAfter the site goes live, I monitor the rankings via Search Console and make adjustments as needed—with ongoing maintenance available upon request.

After the Launch

What happens after the relaunch

A relaunch doesn’t end with the switch-over. During the first few weeks, Google categorizes the new website – which is why I closely monitor this phase.
  1. LaunchDay 0Switching over, all 301 redirects active, new sitemap submitted in Search Console.
  2. Initial CheckWeek 1Checking for crawling errors and 404 pages, immediately adding any missing redirects.
  3. Re-evaluationWeeks 2–6Google crawls the new pages and re-indexes them. Fluctuations in rankings are normal during this phase.
  4. StabilizationFrom Month 2Rankings and clicks settle down. I compare the results with the pre-relaunch status and make adjustments if necessary.
  5. Further DevelopmentOngoingOptional maintenance and targeted optimization of individual pages.

These timeframes are based on experience and depend on the size and crawling frequency of the website.

The Investment

How much does a website relaunch cost?

The cost of a website relaunch is calculated on a case-by-case basis, as the amount of work involved depends on the condition of the existing website. It makes sense to start with a brief assessment of the current state of the website, followed by a binding quote with a range estimate based on an hourly rate of €100 (net).

If you’re redesigning your site anyway, incorporating accessibility from the start is more cost-effective than any retrofit—a relaunch is the ideal time to do so. You can find all prices in the cost overview.

Frequently Asked Questions About Website Relaunches

Short-term fluctuations are normal with any relaunch because Google first has to reindex the new pages—no reputable expert can promise a relaunch without any loss of traffic. However, I do everything I can to minimize the risk as much as possible: clean 301 redirects from old to new URLs, carried-over metadata, and a preserved site structure. After going live, I monitor the rankings via Search Console and make adjustments if individual pages drop in rank.

Starting at €2,490 (net). A website relaunch is priced the same as a new build: simple websites start at this entry-level price; sites with custom designs start at €3,900; and complex projects with special features or multilingual support start at €4,995. The transfer of existing content and redirection of old URLs are included. After a brief analysis of your website, you’ll receive a binding quote with a range estimate.

No. I'll build the new website in parallel, usually in a staging environment. Your existing site will remain online until the new one is ready and we switch over in a controlled manner.

Yes. Text, images, and structure are carried over and revised as needed. A relaunch is a good opportunity to streamline content and organize it more clearly.

For websites that are severely outdated, a complete rebuild is often more cost-effective than a time-consuming overhaul—from a technical standpoint, a relaunch with me always involves a clean rebuild that incorporates what has already proven successful. I’ll discuss openly with you what makes the most sense in your case.

Not necessarily. If your site is already running on WordPress, I’ll update it there. If you’re coming from a different system or website builder, this will also involve migrating to WordPress—there are dedicated pages for that.

Typical signs: loading times exceeding three seconds, a layout that doesn’t display properly on smartphones, a design that looks older than your company, declining search rankings and inquiries, features that can no longer be expanded, or a system for which updates are no longer available. If two or more of these apply, a relaunch is usually more cost-effective than continuing to make minor fixes.

On average, 4 to 8 weeks—just like building a new website, depending on the scope of the project, the availability of your content, and my workload. Your existing website will remain online during this time; we’ll switch over only once the new version has been fully tested.
