Ole Roloff: Your Web Designer in Berlin
I have been creating and designing websites using WordPress since 2014, and have been working as a freelance web designer and SEO specialist since 2019. This is a natural continuation of my previous position in copywriting and design, as well as my many years of experience working at agencies, where I managed numerous website projects, particularly using the WordPress CMS.
For your website, I follow your specifications, which can include corporate design and specific implementation wishes, as well as example websites. I also provide my own input if desired – you determine the balance between guidelines and creative freedom.
In the next step, I will provide you with two to three proposals for typical example pages of your new website, on which we will finalize the design. This also ensures that no unnecessary costs are incurred.
Based on this, I will create the other pages of your WordPress website, gladly in ongoing consultation with you. After completion and before going live, I will also be happy to train you and your team on how to adapt the content yourselves.
The Steps to Creating Your New WordPress Website
Analysis. In an initial meeting via Teams, Zoom, or in person, we will discuss your ideas and wishes for your new WordPress web design, which pages should exist, and what the framework conditions are (e.g., timeline and corporate design), and what I need from you. In addition to photos and existing content, positive examples of websites that reflect your ideas are helpful.
Concept. Based on this, I will create a web design proposal with one to three example pages of your website (depending on the scope of the website), which will serve as a basis for discussion and coordination. Once you are satisfied with the result, I will create the other pages based on this. This way, we stay within an effective time and cost framework, and it is ensured that it meets your expectations. At this point, I usually issue the first partial invoice.
Implementation. In the further course, I will now implement the other pages, gladly in close consultation with you. Of course, I also attach importance to mobile compatibility (responsive web design) and can already provide you and/or your team with training on how to independently edit the content.
Completion. When all content of your website is finalized, I will carry out the final administrative measures: backup system, protection against hacking, implementation of page speed measures, and compliance with GDPR requirements. Afterwards, I will transfer the website to your hosting (I will gladly advise you on this), create redirects for previous pages if necessary to minimize ranking losses, and launch the website. Further support for future changes or assistance can be arranged (usually simply on an hourly basis).

Billing by Hourly Rate
Hourly billing reflects the actual time spent on a 1:1 basis and can be more cost-effective, since a flat rate usually includes a buffer and one round of revisions. The time billed is the time that cannot be spent on other clients (i.e., including communication, but of course excluding bookkeeping).
If you choose this billing method, I’ll be happy to provide you with an estimate; we can agree on limits or budgets, and I can keep you updated on the current status at any time. Billing is calculated per quarter-hour or part thereof and on a monthly basis.

Fixed-Price Billing
We’d also be happy to agree on a fixed price for your website. This price is based on an estimate of the work involved and includes one hour of meeting time to discuss each draft submitted, as well as one round of revisions. Additional rounds of revisions will be billed at the hourly rate (see above).
To keep the number of revision rounds as low as possible, it is helpful if you have already researched positive examples of your desired web design (see Process) and the content has been created.

Depending on the scope of the project, the content you've already prepared, and my current workload, I can usually build your website within about 2 to 8 weeks.
Do you work only in Berlin, or throughout Germany as well?
I'm a web designer based in Berlin, but I work remotely. In-person meetings in Berlin are possible, but most of my work runs smoothly remotely—which is how I serve clients across Germany.

Will I be able to update the content myself after the launch?

What if I don't have any pictures of my own?
If you don't have your own images and don't want to buy expensive ones, I'll handle the image search and provide you with suitable images from my image database free of charge.
