Switching from Webflow to WordPress: Comparison & Migration

Webflow subscription, English-language backend, and feature limitations? I’ll migrate your website to WordPress so your team can maintain it themselves—without any data loss and with a redirect strategy to preserve your search rankings.

The Trigger

Why Webflow Websites Fail in Everyday Use

Recurring subscription costs in dollars

Site map, CMS plan, editor seats (if applicable): Webflow costs are billed in U.S. dollars on an ongoing basis and increase with each additional feature. WordPress hosting costs a few euros per month—with no mandatory subscriptions.

Editing Requires English and Practice

Webflow is built for designers: English interface, classes, breakpoints. If you just want to change some text, you’ll need some training—or you’ll end up calling the agency again. WordPress supports your team in German.

Limitations of Online Stores and Multilingualism

Online stores compliant with German law, seamless multilingual support, booking systems: Anything not covered by the Webflow App Catalog remains a challenge. The WordPress ecosystem offers tried-and-true solutions for these needs.

The Decision

Webflow vs. WordPress: A Comparison

Webflow and WordPress are in the same league—the question is, who will maintain your website on a day-to-day basis? Webflow shines in the hands of design professionals; but as soon as your team needs to update text, blog posts, or new pages on their own, the English-language design tool becomes a hurdle—and the site subscription continues indefinitely.

Webflow WordPress
Design Freedom Very high (for professionals) High – visually editable with Elementor
Care Provided by the Team English, Designer Logic German, able to work independently after a brief orientation
Ongoing Costs Site subscription in U.S. dollars, ongoing Hosting starting at approx. 5–25 €/month, no mandatory subscriptions
Features Limited app catalog (store, multilingual support) Huge plugin ecosystem; capable of addressing German legal requirements
Ownership & Hosting Tied to Webflow hosting Hosting of your choice; the website belongs to you

Let’s be fair: Webflow is a good choice for design-driven marketing websites with a dedicated Webflow expert on the team. However, if you need German-language editorial content, an online store that complies with German law, or full control over costs, WordPress is a better fit.

The Path

Here's How to Switch from Webflow to WordPress

  1. AssessmentWeek 1I’ll review your Webflow website—page structure, CMS collections, integrations—and clarify what can be carried over and what would be better solved from scratch.
  2. Concept & proposalWeek 1–2You’ll receive a binding quote with a clearly defined scope of work, timeline, and a range estimate for each work package.
  3. Build & designWeek 2–6The new WordPress website is built in a protected environment—your design and templates are recreated individually in WordPress (Elementor), while your Webflow site continues to run unchanged.
  4. Content & redirectsWeek 5–7Your content is migrated (CMS collections via export) and checked, and every old URL gets its 301 redirect.
  5. Launch & trainingWeek 6–8Switch-over on your preferred date, onboarding for your team, and a follow-up check of rankings—you only cancel your Webflow subscription after that.

The Investment

How much does it cost to migrate from Webflow to WordPress?

Switching from Webflow to WordPress is, technically speaking, a complete rebuild: I’ll transfer all the content to WordPress (CMS Collections via export)—but the design and templates will need to be recreated from scratch, since Webflow layouts cannot be transferred 1:1. Pricing is therefore calculated on a case-by-case basis depending on the scope—with a binding range estimate for each work package rather than a flat rate based on guesswork.

Because the design, structure, and content are already available as a template, you’ll save significantly compared to a completely new website—the time-consuming conceptual phase is largely eliminated, and the redesign is based on the existing model. The cost overview provides a guide to the price range (a new website starts at €2,490 net). In addition, the ongoing Webflow subscription fees will no longer apply after the switch.

It’s often worth taking advantage of the transition to refresh the design or carry out a redesign: Since the site is being rebuilt anyway, modernizing it at the same time costs significantly less than a separate relaunch at a later date. You’ll receive the exact scope after the free assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Switching from Webflow to WordPress

Webflow is a powerful design tool—definitely a good choice for design-driven teams comfortable with English. WordPress excels in terms of ownership and independence, German-language support, freedom to choose a hosting provider, and a plugin ecosystem without the limitations of an app catalog. For most German companies that want to manage their own websites, WordPress is the more flexible and cost-effective solution in the long run.

Yes—pages, text, and images are transferred in their entirety, and CMS collections can be migrated to WordPress in a structured manner via CSV export. The design is rebuilt in Elementor, since Webflow does not offer a usable design export for WordPress—the result is then compared to the original.

Google generally re-evaluates a migrated website—fluctuations can never be completely ruled out. However, by setting up 301 redirects for every old Webflow URL, carrying over the metadata, and monitoring the process through Google Search Console, I minimize the risk and make adjustments as needed after the site goes live.

Depending on the scope, this typically takes 3 to 8 weeks. Your existing Webflow website will continue to run without any restrictions—we’ll only switch over once the new WordPress site has been fully tested. You’ll cancel your Webflow subscription only after the site has gone live successfully.

Starting at €1,500 net for small websites with up to about ten pages, and €2,500 to €5,000 for medium-sized websites with 10 to 30 pages, including SEO migration. A migration involves rebuilding the site in WordPress (design in Elementor, CMS Collections via export). Since the design, structure, and content already exist, you’ll save money compared to building a completely new website; plus, you’ll avoid Webflow subscription costs. It’s often worth refreshing the design at the same time. You’ll receive the exact scope—as a binding range estimate—after the free assessment.

If your team takes a design-driven approach, is comfortable with the English interface, and the subscription costs are reasonable given the benefits—then Webflow may still be the right platform for you. Switching is especially worthwhile if content management, multilingual support, e-commerce features, or ongoing costs become a bottleneck.
